Karim Hadaya, founder of Munchie Lunchie, believes that theatre and film are not opposing forms, but different languages for the same artistic expression. The medium may change, but the power of storytelling and its ability to provoke, challenge and reveal remains.

Our work is deeply influenced by the Theatre of Cruelty and In-Yer-Face Theatre, traditions that confront reality in all its rawness, ugliness and uncomfortable truth, often in search of something more profound: beauty, humanity and meaning.

We draw on a range of theatrical techniques and ideas from influential practitioners, then translate them onto the moving canvas of film. The result is work that is visceral, visually distinctive and theatrically alive films that embrace the immediacy of performance while exploiting the unique language and possibilities of cinema.
